Project S.O.A.R. for Veterans

What is Project S.O.A.R. for Veterans?

In our view, the Veteran community encompasses all individuals with honorable military experience yesterday, today, and still serving to protect our future.  It includes their family, their loved ones, their significant others and community that surrounds them. What affects a veteran, affects everyone in their community to some extent.

A honorable veteran's innermost desire is to serve with loyalty, duty, honor, respect, integrity, personal courage, and selfless service.  Whether serving on the battlefield or in their own hometown, the utmost drive is to live a life of purpose and value.  We believe you are among those who want to continue to grow and be a positive part of your hometown community.

When returning from deployment or leaving military service, the adjustment to civilian life can be very challenging.

The loss of pay becomes the very first obstacle.  Making choices to take money management classes and programs to survive the transition can be a very positive step in maintaining stability in the present and future.

The steps to find employment are more challenging in a transition from military experience and recognition of the work experience and skills a veteran can bring to the civilian work environment.  The language barriers you may have need to be bridged.  Military acronym is just as foreign to a civilian employer as the civilian jargon required for job applications, skill descriptions, and needs of the work place.

You may have a "military" focus on tasks and completion which can be daunting on more relaxed co-workers while the lack of direction or focus on projects can be frustrating to you.  The lack of recognition that you would have anything but war skills can reduce the pool of potential employers.  There are many many obstacles.  Yet, when you maintain focus and direction, they are not impossible when shown the resources to overcome.  Project SOAR for Veterans is targeted to help you connect with programs that will certify civilian skills, give you time in a civilian environment for civilian experience and endorsement, and work at helping you find employment to keep your life values positive and growing.

As a military experience has already shown, no move goes without its challenges.  That includes moving from military into civilian lifestyles. Now is not the time to withdraw.  Choosing positive activities with new friends, family, or coworkers can change the complete atmosphere of your surroundings.  Helping us find avenues of entertainment that can bring relaxation, release and all out fun with others can be positive for all involved. You may even have a talent to share - please share it, we would love to celebrate it with you!  We hope to get USO to join us in this outreach on our local community outreach.  Personal activities help all of us overcome stress and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

And finally, if you need to find resources to overcome those challenges, to find programs that help you reach your goals, or even provide you an avenue of community interaction and growth through volunteer programs .. our Resource Navigators will be able to help you through the maze  of choices to find the one(s) right for you.

We do ask you to have patience as this program is currently in pre-launch.  The more interest and volunteers we have to get it moving forward, the faster we can help you, the veteran community, and others like us.  You are welcome to reach us through our contact page.  Looking forward to SOARing with all of you.
